Thematic network on e-logistics and e-fulfilment

The impact of the Internet on the evolution of the European logistics business services is substantial. Especially in comparison with the USA, European companies lag behind in the shift from logistics to e-logistics. Consequentially, they are missing new business opportunities and losing market share to their US competitors, which are more and more active in the European market. This project aims to help level that playing field by focussing on a range of logistics activities with the aim to improve supply chain management and increase the competitive position of European industry.

Objectives

  • Address e-fulfilment and all demand-linked logistics activities, including customer service, order processing, inventory management and transportation forecasting
  • Gather information about existing European RTD projects to identify emerging applications and technologies, to enhance the exchange of data and information between partners from the industry and the Member States and to formulate a common approach for future European research related to e-logistics and e-fulfilment
