ROSATTE and EasyWay working together for a faster deployment of speed limit database

On Friday 26th June 2009, ERTICO ITS Europe has hosted a joint workshop which gathered together the stakeholders from EasyWay and ROSATTE. They addressed issues like how road operators and other stakeholders could better cooperate to improve traffic and road safety management thanks to speed limit databases, as well as how road users can benefit from the forthcoming implementations of associated services.
Currently ROSATTE partners are investigating organisational aspects in Europe on the basis of a consultation across most member states. Moreover, ROSATTE focuses its work on the Organisational aspects, Expected benefits and deployment aspects.

The workshop discussions highlighted that ROSATTE activities can respond to EasyWay community needs in three main working aspects.
First ROSATTE guidelines should be produced by the end of the project in which a compliant checklist would be made available, as well as a compilation of best practices examples and a description of the ROSATTE tools.
Second, the importance of defining clearly the relations between the Public Authorities and Private organisations, as well as the relations between different national levels (from national to regional and local) were acknowledged and discussed. Having a clear perspective over these relations is seen as crucial in facilitating and fostering the relations between the future users of the ROSATTE framework.
Third, it was discussed and agreed that the project shall come up with a set of procedures and methods to guarantee data quality through the entire process: from the creation of the ROSATTE data store to the data maintenance and data exchange.

The conclusions of the workshop will be reflected in the work of ROSATTE project in the following period. The current activities in the ROSATTE project will be completed in 2010.
