ROSATTE at ITS WC 2009

ROSATTE has been widely disseminated in Stockholm through papers and technical sessions. On Thursday 26th September, the project has been presented in a special interest session with title “Optimal use of road data for safe and efficient mobility”. The session, moderated by Jean Charles Pandazis (ERTICO ITS Europe), has provided an overview of ongoing activities in Europe and in Japan aiming at optimising the collection and provision of road data and traffic regulations addressing aspects like provision of traffic information services by the private sector, provision of traffic regulation data by the transport authorities, guaranteed access by public authorities to safety related information collected by private companies, guaranteed access by private companies to relevant public data. Kees Wevers (Navteq) presented an overview of the ROSATTE project, Jun Shibata (Japan Digital Road Map Association) traced a picture of the road safety information situation in Japan, Lars Wikstrom (Triona) explained the relations between ROSATTE and the INSPIRE recommendation. Stephen T’Siobbel (Tele Atlas) provided the audience with the system suppliers point of view, while Per Isaksson (SRA) has shown the public road authorities point of view, and Jacques Ehlrich (INRETS) gave a presentation on intelligent speed adaptation in France.

Besides the special interest session, ROSATTE has been presented by its partners in many different technical sessions during the Congress. Frank Petit (ASFA) presented a paper with title “ROSATTE: incremental updates of road safety attributes databases a motorway operator point of view”, Rainer Schützle (Uni-Stutt) discussed a paper in a technical session with title “Quality management in ROSATTE”, Per Olof Svensk (TRIONA) and Ola Rennemo (SINTEF) presented the paper “Establishing an infrastructure for efficient and quality assured exchange of road safety attributes”, Loic Blaive (SETRA) shown a test site implementation through “The BALI project:  first lessons”, and finally Ulli Haspel (OBB) presented a paper about the maintenance of speed limits and other road safety attributes in Bavaria.
