TELEPAY
Tele-payment system for multimodal transport services using mobile phones
TELEPAY will develop an innovative payment system enabling payment for transport services (tolling for motorways, public transport) using portable phones by selling public transport e-tickets stored in the GSM SIM card.
Objectives
- Promote the adoption of wireless devices as a payment means for transport services
- Establish the technical, legal, and commercial feasibility of a purchase and payment system for virtual "e-tickets" through mobile phones
- Test and present a Europe-wide payment means for tolling applications
- Propose different test sites across Europe
- Test the access to closed transport systems (opening barriers and or turnstiles) using short-range communication based terminals
