This event will be organised in cooperation with innovITS Advance and HeERO Project.

Interoperability and eCall service harmonisation are critical challenges to be taken into account for successful deployment and operation of the eCall service. This interoperability event will offer participants to check their implementation during test session in a dedicated GSM standalone network provided by InnovITS ADVANCE.

2nd iMobility Forum Plenary Meeting: Paving the way to Cooperative ITS Standardisation

On 23 May (limited to iMobility forum Members), the first day will commence by presenting the latest achievements of each of the Forum's Working Groups activities, covering all the major topics within ITS for safe, smart and clean mobility fields. The second part of the session will provide information related to items such as the organisation of the sessions and the EU-US Joint showcase at the Vienna ITS World Congress as well as informing the audience of the European Large Scale Action on ICT for Transport (SATIE), and its benefits.

On 24 May (open to all), this day’s session of the 2nd iMobility Forum Plenary Meeting will be dedicated to Cooperative ITS Standardisation. The objective of this session is to keep the ITS stakeholders informed on the latest news and developments in standards relevant to Cooperative ITS at a European and international level. The session will continue with a round table discussion on stakeholder views on this topic.

Despite the numerous advantages of standardisation for research and innovation, standardisation can often seem complex, difficult to access, with too lengthy procedures.

The session will be concluded by presenting the results of the questionnaire developed by iCar Support in order to gather views and needs of the stakeholders on the topic to the audience.

German Automotive Workshop at AMICOM

2nd Interoperability testing event - Cooperative Mobility Services

This event will allow vendors to assure the interoperability of their products, and to subsequently deploy the products for the various demos at ITS World Congress.

A first conf call is planned to be held 23 April 11.00 – 12.00 (UTC+01.00)

According to ETSI TC ITS work progress the scope of the event is proposed to be:
-    TOPO/SPAT
-    GeoNetworking: advanced tests (multi-hop, different shapes of geo areas, asymmetric data links etc)
-    IPv6 Over GeoNetworking

The Test Infrastructure will contain:
-    Central Position Server
-    An automatic trace analysis for pcap files captured during the interop sessions

In addition more conformance testing slots will be provided. The ITS Conformance Validation Platform offers now validated test suites for CAM/DENM/GeoNetworking and IPv6 over GeoNetworking.

The test sessions will be accompanied with demos on test tools from companies such as FOKUS and others.

First EURO VeRoLog working group

The first meeting of the EURO (Association of the European Operational Research Societies) working group on Vehicle Routing and Logistics Optimisation (VeRoLog) will take place in Bologna from 18 to 20 June 2012, hosted by the University of Bologna.

The conference aims to be a regular meeting of the large community of researchers and practitioners interested in vehicle routing optimisation and its relations with logistics. The conference is open to high quality methodological contributions and relevant and real-world applications from the industry and services.

Bologna is very nice historical Italian town that hosts one of the largest universities in Italy that was founded in 1088. Bologna is very well connected by road, train and plane to all major European and international destination and has a long-lasting tradition in warm hospitality and excellent cooking.

The Cooperative Services Workshop: Today, Tomorrow and Forever?

Join public authorities and road operators, haulage operators, ITS experts and EU representatives at the Cooperative Services workshop to explore the cooperative services in the present… and the future! Organised by FREILOT and eCoMove.

In April 2009 the FREILOT consortium came together in one of Europe’s first CIP pilot projects for transport. The aim was to drastically increase energy efficiency in road goods transport in urban areas through the use of cooperative ITS technologies – and to create the conditions for the business implementation of the FREILOT service.

The FREILOT project will conclude in September 2012. What are the main outcomes and best practices from the FREILOT experience? Are there clear benefits in buying into FREILOT for different road transport stakeholders - public authorities and road operators as well as haulage firms? Will FREILOT live on and expand after the pilot’s conclusion?

Already the first platform for cooperative intelligent transport systems in Europe has emerged from FREILOT – and its being used in the eCoMove project!

eCoMove, a four-year (2010-2013) research project co-funded by the European Commission, is developing and testing cooperative technologies and services for energy efficiency. The focus of the project is on inefficient behaviours and strategies responsible for avoidable energy use in road transport: driving performance, trip planning & route choice and traffic management.

The Cooperative Services workshop will present and debate FREILOT results, successes – and problems overcome. Cooperative services in the light of Europe’s first completed CIP pilot for freight logistics will be examined. A full demo tour and a simulator will enable visitors to fully experience FREILOT in action. The next generation of cooperative services for eco-traffic management will be examined in the light of the eCoMove project.

euroFOT Final Event "Unveiling the results of the first large-scale FOT of ADAS in Europe"

The euroFOT final event will take place at the Autoworld in Brussels, on 26-27 June 2012. On this occasion, the euroFOT project results will be unveiled to an audience of approximately 300 stakeholders (decision makers, businessmen, experts, OEMs, dealers, etc.) who will have the opportunity to discover and discuss the conclusions of the first large-scale FOT of ADAS in Europe.

The general objectives of euroFOT are to assess the impact from the usage of Intelligent Vehicle Systems, and to give indications for the deployment of ICT technologies for a safer, cleaner and more efficient transport system in Europe. Another objective of the project is the implementation of methods and initiatives for improving the awareness on the potential of Intelligent Vehicle Systems, and to create a wide socioeconomic acceptance. In this context, euroFOT aims to develop generally applicable methodologies for FOTs, so that the transferability of results to the overall European and global conditions is assured.

The objectives of the event are twofold:

To raise awareness about the proven benefits of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems which have been tested, assessed and evaluated during the project.
To underline that field operational testing is a powerful tool to gain insight into the way functions and systems suit the user when operated in real-world traffic conditions.

FIA Conference Week 2012

The FIA Conference Week will take place in Prague from 26 to 29 June 2012. 226 automobile clubs from 132 countries and 350 delegates are expected to be represented at the conference.

Road Safety Day

The Central Automobile Club of the Czech Republic (ÚAMK) will provide organisational and technical support to the general public event "Road Safety Day" which will take place at the lower part of Wenceslas Square in Prague on 28 June 2012 (from 10:00 to 18:00). "Road Safety Day Prague 2012” is a side event to the FIA Conference Week and it is independent from the Conference programme. On the other hand Conference delegates will attend this road safety event from about 16:00.

Road safety measures as understood by people today (like campaigns etc.), the ITS/GNSS solutions which could significantly improve the safety will be presented. There will be a place for the exhibition and also place for real demonstration like extrication of passengers from crashed car. Furthermore a children traffic playground will be installed there.

The interactIVe FP7 Integrated Project takes the next step towards the goal of accident-free traffic by developing the next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for safer and more efficient driving. interactIVe introduces safety systems that brake and steer autonomously. The driver is continuously supported by interactIVe assistance systems. They warn the driver in potentially dangerous situations. The systems not only react to driving situations, but are also able to actively intervene in order to protect occupants and vulnerable road users. Seven demonstrator vehicles – six passenger cars of varying vehicle classes and one truck – will be set up to develop, test and evaluate the next generation of safety systems.

We cordially invite you to learn more about the latest developments in this area by participating in the interactIVe Summer School at the Divani Corfu Palace, Corfu Island, Greece, from 4–6 July 2012.

Discover the state-of-the-art on Perception Systems, ADAS and HMI for safer and more efficient driving. During the Summer School prominent speakers from academia and industry, from Europe and abroad, will present and discuss a variety of topics, from sensor interfaces and fusion modules to driver support, emergency intervention, vehicle path control, perception platforms and ADAS applications, including the latest interactIVe results. 12th International Scientific Conference "Transport Systems Telematics" TST'12

The 12th International Scientific Conference "Transport Systems Telematics" TST'12 is scheduled for 10-13 October 2012, with the formal opening in Katowice and the continuation in Ustron, Poland.

The TST conference gathers a distinguished group of participants from Poland, as well as from abroad. Every year, representatives of the ministries and local government, along with major national centres related to transport, many national and foreign research centres and universities are our guests. Approximately a third part of the participants are visitors from abroad.

The conference is divided in four main thematic sessions: road, rail, maritime and aviation. FOT-Net 5th International workshop

FOT-Net has been established by the European Commission to network Field Operational Tests (FOTs) organisers in one strategic networking platform in order to address common issues related to the practical organisation, set up and follow-up of FOTs results.

There is a need for the different regions (Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America) to cooperate on common FOTs issues, such as data handling and sharing, methods and deployment. With successful events organised at the ITS Congresses in New York, Stockholm, Busan, and Orlando, FOT-Net has established an international network of FOT organisers, aiming to tackle common working issues and foster cross-region cooperation.

General objectives of this workshop include:

Reinforce the global FOT network in order to exchange knowledge, best practices and foster cooperation for FOT activities

Contribute to the exchange of ideas of the FOT-Net Working Groups which have been set-up to tackle specific sets of issues in order to further enhance and revise the FESTA methodology for FOTs

Support the coherent development and implementation of FOTs at European and International level

Increase the cooperation between FOT activities and their stakeholders leading to faster and effective take up of Intelligent Transport Systems and Services

In this edition of the FOT-Net workshop the round tables will target issues related to Data analysis, Impact Assessment & Scaling up, Data sharing & Cooperative systems and Naturalistic Driving Studies.

On 22 to 26 October 2012 ERTICO - ITS EUROPE is organising, in close cooperation with its counterpart regional organisations and the Host organisation, the 19th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) in Vienna, Austria.

The ITS Congresses continue to be of increasing significance globally while gathering over 300 exhibitors and 8.000 visitors from more than 60 countries worldwide, in the quest to share best practices and build reliable networks.

Within the theme Smarter on the way, the Vienna ITS World Congress is going to deal with innovative systems for the improvement of mobility. The energy-efficient and environmentally friendly transport policy using intelligent systems and services has continually proved to be of great importance in Europe and worldwide. Austria is particularly calling for an exceedingly high degree of well-balanced freight and passenger mobility using multimodality. Needless to say the ideal place to host the 19th ITS World Congress - "smarter on the way!"

DaCoTA Conference

The DaCoTA project conference will take place in Athens on 22-23 November 2012, it is aimed at all who work in the road and vehicle safety community including policy-makers, their advisors, road safety researchers, eperts and others involved in road safety policy-making.

Over two days of presentations, discussion and interaction delegates will be able to participate in the latest developments in evidence based road safety policy-making. The conference will showcase the results of the EU funded DaCoTA project and will follow earlier conferences organised under the SafetyNet project to present the latest research from around the world into evidence based road safety.

“The New World of Technology Systems for Mobility” - 2nd edition

TTS Italia and Club Italia are organising the 2nd edition of the Conference "The New World of Technology Systems for Mobility" which will be held on 3 and 4 December 2012 at the Savoy Hotel Regency in Bologna.

The conference will be an opportunity to present and discuss the ITS Action Plan that Italy must remit to the European Commission by 27 August 2012 (Directive 40/2010) as well as reflecting on the related implications and opportunities for the entire field of ITS.

The great success of the first edition in 2011 and the gratifying feedback of the participants led TTS Italia to organise this second conference and the exhibition in order to give the widest space to all fields of application of ITS systems for the management of mobility and logistics, electronic ticketing and technologies applied to TPL.

More detailed information will follow shortly on how to participate and the first drafts of programs.

In the same location in December it will be also held the 5th the Workshop organised by TTS Italia in collaboration with the IRF-International Road Federation (member of the European ITS Advisory Group). The meeting aims to present the results of ITS Policy Committee which TTS Italia is part of.

The Workshop will be free of charge and open to anyone interested.

20th International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory

The 20th International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory (ISTTT) will be held at the Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk, The Netherlands from July 17 to July 19, 2013. The 20th Symposium will be organized by Delft University of Technology.
The ISTTT series is the premier gathering for the world's leading transportation and traffic theorists, and for those who are interested in contributing to or gaining a deeper understanding of the field.

The symposium covers all scientific aspects of transportation and traffic, spanning all modes of transport, including freight, air, and maritime modes, as well as private and public transport.

Extended abstract and paper submission

As in past symposia, paper review will be a two-stage process. An extended abstract (around 1000 words) can be submitted electronically to the organizers through the website www.isttt20.orgbetween August 15, 2011 and January 15, 2012 for the first-round review. Since for the ISTTT series the principal criterium is the scientific contribution of the work, we emphasize that the extended abstracts need to provide sufficient (theoretical, mathematical or empirical) evidence to allow the reviewers to assess this contribution.

Please note that the official language for the ISTTT is (UK) English.
Accepted papers will be published both in the symposium book (Elsevier Procedia series) and in Special Issues of the Transportation Research series.
Given the high standards of the ISTTT series, only 36 papers will be selected for podium presentation and publications in the conference proceedings. In addition, around 24 papers will be selected for a poster presentation. These papers will be made available via the symposium website only.
